When something shouldn't be on page one, we work to get it off page one.
Search Clear helps individuals and businesses get harmful, outdated, or unlawful content removed or pushed out of search results through the right formal channel, every time.
What "removing content from Google" actually means
Getting something removed from Google search doesn’t delete it from the internet — it stops it from appearing when someone searches your name or your business. That distinction matters, because it shapes which route we take: a direct removal request, a legal process, or a suppression strategy that pushes the old result further down the page.
This isn’t something most people can navigate alone — the right channel depends entirely on what the content is, where it’s hosted, and why it’s damaging. Our team handles:
- Formal delisting and "right to be forgotten" style requests for outdated or irrelevant results
- Disputing content that's false, unverified, or defamatory
- Removing exposed personal information or images posted without consent
- Handling copyright-based takedown requests
- Advising on the legal side of link and content removal
- Building a longer-term plan to keep new risks from resurfacing
Two steps, done properly, get most cases moving.
There's no shortcut around understanding exactly what you're dealing with first — but once we do, action tends to move quickly.
See what's actually there
Before anything else, we search your name or business the way a customer, employer, or partner would — and map every result worth addressing across the first few pages.
Act through the right channel
Each piece of content gets matched to the removal path most likely to work — direct takedown, platform report, legal request, or search suppression — instead of one generic approach applied to everything.
For individuals
Old articles, exposed personal details, unfair reviews, or content shared without consent can follow you long after the moment has passed. We work through it discreetly, one piece of content at a time.
For businesses
Unfair reviews, false claims, or outdated press can quietly cost you customers before they ever get in touch. We work to get genuinely damaging content down, and rebuild what surrounds it.
Removing negative content — FAQs
The honest answers to what we’re asked most often.
Not usually. Genuine reviews — even harsh ones — generally stay up. What can be removed are reviews that break platform rules, are provably false, or are posted by someone with no real relationship to your business. If you think a review qualifies, the strongest approach is going to the platform with clear evidence, or having us handle that process for you.
Broadly, a statement needs to be: shared with someone else, false rather than opinion, and genuinely damaging to your reputation or your business’s finances — and not protected by a legal privilege (like something said in court). If content meets that bar, it may qualify as defamatory, and there are formal routes to challenge it.
Individuals, professionals, small businesses, and larger organisations — anyone dealing with content that’s affecting how they’re seen online. Cases range from a single damaging article to a full ongoing reputation strategy, handled with the same discretion either way.
A few things are worth trying first:
- Delete or edit anything you posted or control yourself
- Submit a direct removal request to Google for exposed personal data or explicit content
- Contact the site owner or author directly and ask
If none of that works — which is common — that’s usually where a formal or legal route, or a longer-term strategy, becomes necessary.
Sometimes removal genuinely isn’t an option. In those cases, the goal shifts to suppression: building and optimising enough positive, relevant content that the old result gets pushed off the first page — where the vast majority of people will never see it.
It’s worth trying, and occasionally it works — but in our experience it’s the exception rather than the rule. Whoever published the content usually had a reason to, and a polite request rarely changes their mind on its own. It’s still a reasonable first step, just not one to rely on alone.
